Filter Maintenance Guide
With the filters in your INOVA air purifier being the most important part of your system to keep your air clean, we’ve put together this easy guide to help you change your filters when the time comes.
Depending on the model and filter configuration you will have either two or three filters in your air purifier. Find your model below and follow the steps to quickly change your filter.
How do I change the filters in my INOVA Air Purifier?
Accessing the Filters

2. Ensure system is sitting on a flat and even surface.
3. Pull top of the latches (A) away from the main unit on either side.

INOVA E8, E20, DE20, V9, V20 and DV20
1. Pre-Filter
The pre-filter is wrapped around the HEPA filter & fastened with velcro. Gently unwrap from the existing filter & replace with the new pre-filter. If you suffer from dust allergies, we recommend taking the system outside before removing the pre-filter to avoid the possibility of dust being released in your environment. Alternatively wear a dust mask if performing this operation inside. Ensure pre-filter is installed so the ‘fluffy’ Velcro strip is facing outwards and is firmly fitted around the HEPA filter to avoid air bypassing the pre-filter. We recommend replacing the pre-filter at least every 6 months. In high dust environments the pre-filter may need changing more frequently.
2. HEPA Filter
The HEPA filter is designed to last 3 to 5 years under normal use. Like with other filters the environment in which it is used will determine the filter life. The outside of the HEPA filter will change colour and turn grey when it needs changing. Generally for the first two years of use the filter will remain white and then gradually get darker in the final months of its life. Note: the inside of the HEPA filter will always remain white so it is important to check the outside of the filter which is visible when the pre-filter is being changed.
3. Carbon Filter (excluded in V series)
The Activated Carbon filter can be effective for approx. 1-3 years depending on the level of chemicals & odours present. The life of this filter can be shortened if exposed to consistent high amounts of chemicals and odours. This filter should be changed when it is saturated, this means the filter has entirely adsorbed what it has filtered from the air during use. You can tell when a carbon filter needs changing because the air coming out of the air purifier will either be tainted with an odour of what it has adsorbed during use, or the air will simply stop smelling clean.
More information about the lifespan of the carbon filter can be found here.

3. Carbon Wrap Filter
The Activated Carbon blanket filter will be effective for 6-12 months. The life of this filter can be shortened if exposed to consistent high amounts of chemicals and odours. This filter should be changed when it is saturated, this means the filter has entirely filled up with whatever it has filtered from the air during use. You can tell when a carbon filter needs changing because the air coming out of the air purifier will either be tainted with an odour of what it has adsorbed during use, or the air will simply stop smelling clean or smell stale.
